Cosmetic Product Review: Cherimoya Glow Stick!

Updated: May 21, 2022

Hey Roomies! I said that I had intended to write more reviews on unicorn themed cosmetics. So here's another one for you all. This review will be about the Cherimoya So Extra Glow Stick in the shade Wildest Dreams.

I'll be honest, I don't know anything about the brand behind this product. What I can tell you is that I purchased it from TK Maxx for £4.99. I believe there is a choice of three shades within the glow stick range. This one is a silvery blue toned highlighter. I, like many other ladies out there at the moment love a good highlighter. So lets get talking about this little beauty.

The Packaging

I love the packaging for this product! The highlighter itself is a cream based chunky crayon. The crayon is in a white outer casing with the product inside. It works like a wind up lipstick or pencil would. All over the crayon's white outer shell are holographic pictures of unicorns, ice-cream cones and pizza. To me this was enticing enough just by looking at it. The crayon comes inside a box which is a lovely blue/silver colour and is again holographic with the same images on it that are printed onto the product. The best part is that it shows instructions for use on the back. To most people its pretty obvious what a highlighter is for. But to some, this product may look like a colouring crayon at a glance. Plus not everyone knows how to highlight and contour on their face. I'm terrible at it. I know how, but i'm useless at all that.

How to use

These are the instructions given by the brand on the back of the packaging.

1. Run stick over high areas of the face. Recommended areas include cheekbones and down the bridge of nose.

2. Blend with sponge or fingertips.

simple enough, so I decided to give it a go!

Time to swatch!

As you can see in the photo above, I decided to do a quick swatch of the product on the inside of my forearm (please excuse the hairs). This shows the product to be a very bright, icy toned shimmery highlighter. Which is really quite nice, especially if you prefer your highlighters in paler shades.

Application

As instructed I took off the lid from the product and began to gently run the stick over my cheekbones and bridge of my nose. I also love highlighters on my brow bone, so I also decided to add some there too.

In the photo to the left, you will see that at this stage was where I had just drawn a simple line of the product onto my cheekbones and slightly up towards my outer eye area. That's easy enough to do. So after that it was time to blend the product out. I chose to do this lightly with my fingertips.

As you can see in the photograph to the right, despite tapping and blending very lightly, most of the product wore off. It not the easiest to put on and make it look noticeable. It seems that you have to use a fair amount of product in order to be able to blend it out and make it appear as a highlighter should. Thankfully there is a good amount of the highlighter stick within the outer casing.

Although if you do like a very, very subtle highlighter then you will love this product. Or if you love an icy blue look then a lot of product without a great deal of blending in will work great for you.

This photo (to the left) shows the product in the best way that I could apply it and blend it. I must add, it does make a very lovely brow bone highlighter. I didn't really have to blend it too much on my brow bone as it really doesn't need it there. After all, it's nice to have some sparkle and shimmer on your eyes.

I do like the Cherimoya So Extra Glow Stick, however I'm not sure it will be my go to highlighter. So far the best ones I have come across are: Strobe highlighter in the shade 'Flash' by Make Up Revolution (£3) and Dragon's Heart from I Heart Make Up (£5)

I think I will try to review Dragon's Heart at another time along with another in the same range.

Star Rating Score

I do like this product and the colour is lovely. But it does take some getting used to when trying to find the right balance between product and blending when using it. If you like experimenting with loads of highlighters and you like cream based ones then I would recommend giving it a go if you do come across it. So the Cherimoya Glow So Extra Glow Stick will receive a score of.......

3/5 Stars

Thank you for checking out my review. I hope it was useful to you. Keep checking back at The Realview Room for future reviews.
