Many fans of Marvel Comics and their Cinematic Universe (The MCU) have been practically begging for the spy turned superhero, Black Widow to be given her own solo film within the MCU. Ever since Scarlett Johansson first appeared in Iron Man 2 alongside Robert Downey Jr, she has portrayed the character six times on screen and her seventh will be later this year in the highly anticipated Avengers: Infinity War. There are a lot of rumours in the media that a writer has been hired to script the long awaited Black Widow movie.

The writer in question is Jac Schaeffer. Schaeffer is most well known for TiMER back in 2009. At this point there has not yet been confirmation of a green light from Marvel about the possibility of the film actually going ahead to production. But as it appears to be in it's early stages it is looking very promising.

So I guess all we can do for now is sit tight until the news is either confirmed or unfortunately denied. Although on the plus side there are plenty more Marvel films in the works to keep us occupied in the mean time. Including Black Panther, Ant-Man and The Wasp and Avengers: Infinity War.
