Woohoo Island Challenge

When Island Living was announced, I had the idea to create a Sim version of Love Island and to stream it as a mini series for The Realview Room (all the videos can be found on our Youtube and you can talk to us as we stream via Twitch.) One of our Roomies dubbed it Woohoo Island, Kim and I loved it and kept it as the title of the series. Kim thought this would also be a great way to review Island Living, The Sims newest expansion pack.

I was asked by a fellow Simmer if this was a challenge or if it was just made up,because they wanted to participate in the challenge themselves, so I decided to make it a challenge!! Here are the rules!! (don't worry there won't be too many)

1. Make 8 Singletons, 4 Females and 4 Males (so you'll end up with 4 couples) be as creative as you like with their bios , Kim and I chose places in the UK as their home towns but I suggest using the worlds in Sims 4 (which I have done with my lastest two Islanders Paisley lives in San Myshuno and Josh is from Willow Creek) Give your Singleton ages, Grace is the youngest at 21 , Markus was the oldest at 29. Give each Singleton a career ( they obviously had to quit them before entering the Villa) my favourite was Annabell's,she was a costume designer for a theatre group. Here's an example of one of our Singletons bio.

You can view the rest in our Meet the Islanders article on the website.

You get to choose their traits, we chose ones that we felt fit our Singletons personality. For example we knew Kristie would be bit of a gold digger and love money, so we gave her the Materialistic trait. She is also a massive flirt which is why she received the Romantic trait, she is very territorial with guys that she is seeing or going out with the closest trait we felt that would fit was Jealous.

2. Time to couple up the Singletons!! You get to choose which Singletons go together , because Love Island just have heterosexual couples we copied and done the same but it doesn't mean you have to!! If you use Social Media or have friends that love Sims you could ask them to help you pair up your couples.

3.Create the Villa

You will need a decent plot size for this challenge. 50x50 is my recommended size. I used this lot from Sulani(see below image) The Landgraab's lot in Oasis Springs is also 50x50

The Kim Famillie's lot in Willow Creek is 50x50. Villareal's lot in Windenburg is 64x64 if you want a bigger lot. Remember you are confined to the world you have chosen the Singletons to vacate in, for example my Singletons were in Sulani ,I then couldn't take them on dates to a restaurant in Willow Creek or for a photo shoot in Magnolia Promenade.

My Villa only has the essentials , Singletons aren't allowed to watch TV or read books or magazines. No skill building items unless it's for a challenge , same with activities. (The pool doesn't count neither do phones) My Villa has the Romance, Convivial and Sunny Aspect traits.

I used this years Love Island Villa as inspiration for mine. Here is what it looks like.

Put a fence around your Villa so you can lock unwanted guests out! and prevent the Singletons from leaving the Villa. No socializing with Non-household Sims!! Unless your Singletons are out on a date.

The little house on the right is The Hideway!! One couple gets to go in there every week!! The seating area next to the Hideaway is the fire pit area, this is where Island Dumpings take place. They use lots of lights in the TV show so I had to add some of my own, I put them over the day beds to make it a little more romantic. I'm pretty sure the lights can be found in the Seasons expansion pack. Day beds are handy for the first day or two, the Singletons will still be getting to know each other and might not feel comfortable sharing a bed.

The lounge. Pretty basic, The Singletons spend all of their time outside so it doesn't really matter.

The boudoir. A bed and a chest of drawers for each couple, a dressing room for the ladies and two bathrooms.

Just a little note, this all depends on whether you're cheating with motherlode or not If like me you are playing on console using cheats will disable trophies, the way around this will be managing households moving 3 Singletons at a time from and to the Islander Household , each time 3 leave into their own household they gain more than the usual 19,000 (I think it's around 34,000 not 100%) when you put them back into the Islander's household you're adding that extra money, it won't take too long to do depending on the value of your Villa.

I ended up cheating anyway, to level up my Islanders skills for example, Zac was our Simtube Prankster but didn't have the mischief skill to match so I maxed it out with a cheat which then disabled my trophies. (This is the cheat in case

you want to do the same ) stats.set_skill_level Major_Mischief 10. Just change the Mischief to Charisma and the 10 to 6 , you're sim will have level 6 Charisma.

I also cheated to keep the Islanders needs maxed, I thought it would be boring for viewers watching me maintain their needs. I wanted to focus on Singletons interactions and create drama and do challenges. It's up to you again if you cheat or not, you don't have to if you don't want to.

4. Moving in The Singletons, keep them in the same couples for a week, during which they can get to know Singletons in other couples. I had my first love Triangle in the first week Annabell was coupled up with Matteo , Markus also took a liking to her, ended in tears (for Markus).

No Island Dumpings for this week.

The length of the challenge should be 28 Summer Days, 7 and 14 days isn't long enough. You can change this in the settings under seasons. You should start the challenge in Summer and be finished just before Autumn, doesn't matter if you finish a little earlier or later.

5. Challenges- Challenges should take place twice a week , the winning couple gets to go on a date. If a couple wins twice in a row, the couple with the lowest romance go on a date instead.

Some Challenge Ideas - If you use the same Sulani lot as me, building sandcastles is a fun challenge, the first Singleton to finish wins ( counts as a couple win)

Painting - first Singleton to finish a decent (or slightly humorous painting wins for the couple)

Karaoke Challenge - best couple duet wins

Kava Challenge- each Sim makes Kava first one to finish wins for their couple (or the one in the better condition for example good wins over poor)

Work out challenge - get the girls to do a series of push ups and sit ups first one to finish wins for the couple

Bouquet Challenge - the men have to create a beautiful bouquet for their lady first one finished wins (or the one in the better condition )

These are just some examples, you can make some of your own up.

6. Dates - Couples that win challenges get to go on dates, as said above couples that win two challenges in a row , stay behind the second time, as they allow the couple with the lowest romance rating go instead. Instead of asking a Sim out on a date , I used the travel option and chose their coupled up Singleton just so I didn't have to complete date goals and in case the Singleton being asked rejected(which might be the case with couples with the lower romance stats)

Date Ideas- Go out for a meal

Spa Date

Go Aqua-Zipping

Go Scuba Diving

Go to a club

These again are just examples, you're more than welcome to create your own. I stayed in Sulani so there were no Spa dates or nightclub type dates, the world you choose will be the world you have to stay in. No going to Windenburg for a date at a night club if you've chosen to play the challenge in Oasis Springs.

7. Every Friday evening (except the first week) a couple is dumped from the Island. Dumpings take place at the Fire pit. Click on a Sim form a group with all the Singletons and then sit together at the fire pit, be prepared not all Singletons will co-operate or sit for too long.

The couple(or couples) with the lowest romantic relationship become vulnerable and can be dumped from the Island. Again if you use social media you could ask your followers/friends which couple should be dumped. For the first Dumping only one Singleton leaves. This is the Singleton with the lowest relationship with all the Singletons as this will be them "voting" for whom they want to stay (obviously it'll be the Singleton they have a higher relationship with) You can do double dumpings to add in some drama and to bring in some fresh new singletons.

Go to Manage Households and move the dumped Singletons from the Islander household to a brand new household.

8. Move in some Singletons in straight after dumpings especially the first one. As it gives the uncoupled Singleton a chance to reconnect with someone new. New Singletons add extra drama as they shake the couples up. Stop adding Singletons the week before the final week(the last week of Summer), as you only need 3 final couples for the final (which will be on the last friday of Summer)

9. Re coupling should happen every Monday (after the first Sim week) gives the couples 5 days together before the dumping on Friday.

10.Hideaway - Chose the couple with either the highest romantic relationship (the strongest couple deserve some time alone am I right? ) or allow the couple lowest romantic relationship to spend the night in the hideaway. Hopefully the alone time will bring them closer together.

11. Before the final you will need to create a "host". You will be playing as the "host" and visit the Villa to "Interview" the final 3 couples!! The winning couple can be the couple that have stuck with each other throughout the series, or the couple with the highest friendship and romantic stats or just your favorite couple. The winning couple normally receives 50,000 they can chose to share it splitting it 25,000 each or one of them can steal it which will mean using this money cheat ('testingcheats true', then enter 'Money 45,000', as Singletons start out with 20,000 when playing as the Singleton as a separate household) or as an alternative instead of winning money they win a house and can decide whether or not they will stay together!! If it's a no they go their separate ways with 20,000 each (the starting out funds after you split the household up in Manage Households)
